Will My Roof Be Okay with a Hole If It Rains Tomorrow?

Hey everyone, I recently had my electrical panel upgraded, and now there's a hole in my roof. Rain is forecasted for tomorrow (not too heavy, typical LA stuff), but I cannot get a roofer to come out today. Should I be really worried about this, or can I safely wait a day without causing major issues?

Why not just throw a tarp or something waterproof over it? Leaving it open sounds risky. Water can sneak into places you don't expect, so it’s better to be cautious!

You’re already up there doing work, so just cover the hole! It should give you peace of mind while you wait for repairs. If you have a way to seal it better, that would be great too. Water can find the tiniest cracks. Try using plastic sheeting and duct tape; it’s cheap and can help prevent leaks!

I’m no roofing expert, but I’d suggest tucking a tarp under the last full row of tiles and wrapping it around the pole. Maybe duct tape the edges where they meet on the other side. Just be careful, though; I’m not totally sure about the tucked part. Someone else might have a better idea!

That sounds like a good workaround! I’ll give it a try, thanks!
