Will My Tenant’s Sage Plant Come Back After Being Trimmed?

I need some advice! My husband accidentally weed whacked our tenant's new Sage plant, which was very sentimental as it came from their late father's garden. The plants were only about a foot tall, and now there's just a small part left—maybe 3 inches. Is there any chance that they'll grow back? Our tenants can't easily get back to Colorado to replace them!

Most sage varieties are perennials, so that accidental chop might actually encourage it to grow back even bigger next year. If you can, find out what species it is, just to be safe!

Thanks! I'm waiting to hear back on which variety they had!

Definitely, it will likely grow back! My sage is about 5 years old, and every spring I cut it back to the base, and it thrives. Just give it some time and care!

Thanks a lot for the reassurance! I hope it makes a comeback since they just planted those little guys a couple of weeks ago!

Don’t worry too much! As long as the roots are still healthy, that sage should bounce back just fine. Just make sure it gets plenty of water to help it recover.
