I accidentally had a bottle of wood glue explode while I was working on a project, and now I have some glued spots on my pants. I've wiped off a good amount, but there's still a fair bit left. I'm worried that washing them could mess up my washing machine. Should I just hand wash them or is it safe to throw them in with a load?

It really depends on the type of wood glue. If it's Titebond 2 or 3, you're probably looking at a tough situation because once it dries, it’s pretty much set. You might be better off soaking them and hand washing instead of tossing them in the washer.
Honestly, I wouldn’t risk it! It’s better to soak your pants in a bucket of water first and try to get as much glue out as you can before washing. Once that glue dries, it’s a real pain to remove!

Yeah, most woodworkers tend to use Titebond 2 because it's easier to work with, but if it dries, you're in for a challenge. I usually stick to Titebond 1 for easier cleanup!
