Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for a propane generator to use when solar energy isn't available. I'm curious about what generators you all are using and whether the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) requirement—less than 3%—is something I really need to be concerned about; most of the generators I'm finding are closer to 5%. Ideally, I'm looking for something in the 5-7 kW range since I typically don't exceed 2000W. Has anyone had experience with Predator generators or maybe that Chargeverter accessory?

A Yanmar diesel paired with a Chargeverter is a solid combo. Good fuel efficiency and reliable performance!
I saw that Costco has a 7100W A-iPower inverter generator that meets the <3% THD requirement and outputs 240v. Sometimes, you can snag it for around $1000 instead of its usual $1350 price tag.
I own the Firman generator, and I got it at Costco a few years back for a great price. It's been working well for me! Check it out here [Firman H07552](https://firmanpowerequipment.com/collections/dual-fuel-generators/products/h07552).
I have the Honda EU7000is, which is rated below 10% THD. It's a super quiet inverter generator and I plan to connect it to my EG4 6000XP in the spring. I think it will perform great!
You should really avoid conventional generators unless you're using a Chargeverter. The extra cost of the device plus the generator might push you to just buy an inverter generator from the start. Inverter generators are generally way more efficient too. I have a 9kW portable generator that has a THD of 23%, which surprised me since it wasn't mentioned in the specs. I wouldn't plug that directly into pricey equipment. Try looking for unbiased YouTube reviews to see the output quality of generators you're considering; they're super helpful!
