Hey fellow gardeners from Zone 5! With the snowstorm outside, I'm daydreaming about the upcoming growing season. For those of you in Zones 6 and below, how do you keep the gardening spirit alive during the winter? What activities do you enjoy to prepare for spring and summer? I've been planning a new raised bed and even grew some grass in a pot for my dog, even though she's not too interested in it! Can't wait to dig in the dirt again!

I like to start on the long-term seedlings now. Some might say it's early, but I just want to enjoy my veggies and blooms for as long as possible!
Don’t forget to plant bare root trees too! It’s a good winter activity to get a head start for the seasons to come.
This is prime time to start seeds for onions, leeks, and celery indoors with grow lights. It really helps me cope with these brutal winters. Can’t wait for the last frost to finally plant my tomatoes in mid-March!
I absolutely love going through seed catalogs! There’s something about browsing all those varieties that really gets me excited for spring.
