Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice on planting options for my front garden in East Lothian, Scotland. I've dug out a border that's about 60cm deep and 3m wide against my neighbor's chain link fence. Currently, I have Azaleas in pots at both ends, but I want to fill the space in between with some colorful flowering perennials. Any recommendations would be much appreciated! Cheers!

Phlox is a fantastic choice for perennials in Scotland, especially with our usual wet weather, plus they thrive in shady spots. Heuchera is another great option; it has stunning leaf colors and suits shady areas well. Don't forget about Heathers—though they’re out of flower right now, you can find plenty of autumn-flowering varieties at garden centers. Lithodora is also lovely for those acid soils. Just a heads up, though: you might see Japanese Anemones suggested, but be cautious; they can quickly take over a shady area!
I'm definitely considering Phlox now! I think I could plant it across the front of the border and maybe add Campanula behind it.
