Best Ways to Keep Cats Out of My Flower Beds?

Asked By WhimsicalPineapple42 On

I'm looking for effective ways to prevent cats from using my flower beds as a bathroom. I've thought about ultrasonic repellents, but I'm concerned they might also deter our friendly hedgehogs. Do these things actually work? I've seen ads showing cats and foxes being affected, but I'm worried about the impact on other wildlife too.

Bird netting could be your best bet! It’s simple but works great. Just pin it down over your flower beds but cut holes for the plants to grow through. It'll keep the cats out while letting your flowers thrive.

I’ve got to warn you about the ultrasonic repellents. They can be quite annoying for humans too! I walk past several properties with them, and they actually hurt my ears—it feels like a tiny drill every time someone walks by. It’s super uncomfortable!

Totally agree! My neighbor has one, and it drives me nuts every time I’m outside. I’d even think about a stealthy mission to get rid of it!

A lot of folks here recommend using motion-activated sprinklers. Cats really dislike getting sprayed, and these gadgets can automate the process, ensuring they get deterred every time they show up. A week of this should help them change their habits without bothering the wildlife you want to keep around.
