Hey everyone! Quick question about planting seed potatoes. If I buy some, do I need to wait for them to sprout before putting them in the ground, or can I just plant them as they are? I searched around but couldn't find a clear answer, so any insights would be super helpful! Thanks!

You don’t actually have to wait for your seed potatoes to sprout before planting them. I’ve done both ways — planting unsprouted ones and waiting for them to sprout — and honestly, they both turned out pretty similar in the end. So, go ahead and plant them as is! Just keep an eye on your soil temperature so they don’t rot.
While you can use normal potatoes, just make sure they’re chemical-free since store-bought ones might have anti-sprouting treatments. If you want to grow something special, then seed potatoes are definitely the way to go. But if you’re aiming for regular potatoes, you can plant them after they sprout.
I found some regular potatoes in my pantry that were sprouting, so I cut them into pieces, making sure each piece had at least two eyes. I let them dry for a day before planting them. If your potatoes sprout, that’s a great option! Otherwise, just go for the seed potatoes.
