How can I protect the exposed wood around my spigot after stucco damaged?

I noticed that the stucco around my outdoor spigot has come off, and now there's some exposed wood. I'm worried about how this might affect the wood, and I'm looking for suggestions on what I can do to protect it. Is there something like a collar or ring I can buy to help cover it? Also, what's the best way to keep that area dry and free from water?

A quick fix could be to just paint the exposed wood with an off-white color to blend it in—it will look better and also add some level of protection. Just keep an eye on it afterward to make sure it stays dry!

So I don't need to worry about the wood being exposed as long as I paint it?

Typically, these spigots are designed to lean forward so any water drains away, so you shouldn't stress too much about it. However, addressing the exposed wood is important, so definitely consider doing something to cover it.

I see what you mean, but I’m still worried about the exposed wood looking bad.
