Hey fellow woodworkers! I've got a property in Northwest Lower Michigan with a ton of large, tall basswood trees. These guys grow fast but often fall over because the land is hilly and sandy. As we plan to take them down or process any that fall before then, I'm curious if there's anyone out there who would want some of the wood before it turns to mulch or just gets used as firewood? I know basswood is popular for carving since I've done a bit myself, but I'm wondering if larger rounds or logs hold any value? I'm not looking to profit, just hoping to share some wood with those who can appreciate it!

If you're not in a rush, check out chipchats.org – they have links to local carving clubs. If there aren't any nearby, you can ask them to include a notice in their next magazine. It could really help spread the word!
Oh man, I wish I were closer! I’m down in Texas, but you’re spot on about basswood being great for carving. I bet a lot of local carvers will be interested in your offer! It’s really nice of you to let people know about this!
