Setting Up a Waterline on My Balcony: Tips Needed!

Asked By XyZ4p!Dq On

I have a long, narrow balcony (about 20 meters) with a water tap located at one end. I'm looking to install a waterline throughout the balcony to set up multiple taps for an automatic watering system for my plants. My goal is to make it easier than managing one long line, which can lead to pressure issues at the far end. Ideally, I want to keep the wall tap open throughout the summer, allowing me to simply open the tap at the other end without returning to the initial tap each time. However, I'm uncertain about how to go about this project—what type of pipe should I use, do I need UV protection, and which type will handle the pressure? Also, I'm located in Europe and would appreciate any guidance!

Consider getting the parts for a drip irrigation system. They come with timer valves, main lines, drip lines, and emitters that cater to different plants. These systems are pretty common in Europe, especially in places like Germany, so you should have no trouble finding them. You might want to check sites like dripworks.com for ideas on what is normally used, then look for something similar locally.

You could try just using a garden hose with a spray nozzle at the end and keep the tap open. That's a simple fix and should work fine for a basic setup.
