What Affordable Materials Can I Use for My Dog Run?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to set up a dog run in a space that's about 18x18 feet for my dog to have constant access. I initially thought about using turf for easy cleaning, but I've heard peastone can hurt their paws and make a mess. The ground is also a bit uneven, so leveling it for turf might stretch our budget too much. I'm looking for alternative ideas since grass isn't the best option—his pee tends to ruin it. We had mulch at our last place, but it was a hassle to clean up since he would track it inside. Any suggestions?

I'd suggest using Dutch white clover. It's a solid ground cover option that holds up pretty well against dog traffic!

You might want to try regenerating perennial ryegrass (RPR). It might not be fully resistant to urine, but it can handle a lot, and it recovers quickly, which is great for a dog run!
