I've successfully grown store-bought potatoes before, but this time I'm running into some strange issues. I'm doing it indoors to escape the cold, and instead of cutting the potatoes in half, I opted to use whole ones, thinking it might yield more tubers based on my research. I've tried both organic and inorganic types, and surprisingly, both are growing like crazy, but in a weird way. They're tall, with small leaves, and resemble vines rather than typical potato plants. Initially, I thought it might be related to the fertilizer I'm using—a 4-4-4 organic mix suggested by a video. However, even the plants I didn't fertilize are showing the same vine-like growth. I'm using Burpee organic potting soil in grow bags under strong grow lights. It's been two months, and I've checked the soil, but I haven't found any potatoes forming at all. What could be causing this odd growth pattern?

It sounds like your potatoes are reaching for more light. How powerful are your grow lights? Sometimes if they aren't bright enough, plants will stretch and vine out like that.
To get some solid potatoes, you might want to add sulfate of potash. The potassium in it could be crucial for your plants since you've got to give them that essential nutrient.
