Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on how to file one of the ridges inside the channel of my 6" Starrett combo square. The slot is about 1/16" wide for the ruler. If anyone has recommendations for a reasonably priced file that would work for this, I'd really appreciate it!

Keep in mind that the Starrett combo square head is hardened, so using a standard file might be tricky. You'll want to be careful with that. If it’s the hardened version, it should be stamped 'hardened' and usually has a smooth finish, while the cast iron version has that crinkled look.
I've had success with the precision needle file set from Harbor Freight. It's really handy for adjusting tools like this, and it’s budget-friendly. Here’s a link to the kit I used: [Harbor Freight Precision Needle File Set](https://www.harborfreight.com/12-piece-precision-needle-file-set-4614.html). It might be just what you need!
