I'm trying to figure out the best way to hang a 35-40lbs mirror in a tricky spot where there's a pocket door. I can't install traditional anchors in the drywall because it would hit the door. I've considered using glue, but I've come across conflicting opinions about its effectiveness. I've looked into PL Premium, but I've heard it might not hold up well due to potential vibrations and the backing material of the mirror, which is wrapped in a soft, suede-like fabric. Are there viable options I haven't thought of, or would PL Premium be a good choice? I should also mention that I'm okay with the mirror being a permanent fixture.

Just a heads up, whatever method you choose, make sure it’s super secure. I had a similar experience where my cat knocked over a huge mirror after it wasn’t properly hung—it was chaotic! So safety first!
Museum-grade hooks could be a game-changer for you. They can hold up to 100lbs and don’t require studs—perfect for a drywall situation. Just make sure they’re installed correctly, and they should work like a charm!
You might want to look into toggle bolts. They sit nearly flush against the wall and provide great support without needing to be drilled deep into the drywall. Just double-check how much space you've got; some toggles can help even with the pocket door's clearance.
Have you thought about a metal French cleat? It could be a solid solution depending on the width of your mirror. They distribute weight well and would allow you to mount heavy items securely without needing anchors in the wall.
What about using furring strips? If you can anchor them to the studs available, it could give you enough stability to hang the mirror on top. Toggle bolts seem promising too if you can use them safely!
