I'm trying to figure out a budget-friendly way to clear out our garage, which has turned into a bit of an obstacle course with all the kids' bikes. Since the bikes are mostly toddler-sized, the situation is just going to get messier. Unfortunately, my city doesn't allow me to put up another outbuilding because of zoning rules. I'm considering building a 4x8 lean-to shed attached to my garage. Prefab options are around $1100, but building it myself only saves a little cash. Plus, I'd need a base for it, and I don't want to spend too much since it might not be a permanent solution. I found some metal sheds that fit my size requirements for about $200 online. Is that a poor choice, or could it work if I just put down some gravel or pavers and secure it to the ground?

Consider a simpler wooden frame shed. If you're only looking for temporary storage, even something light and smaller could work if you can get creative with the base and anchoring it down!
Have you thought about using ceiling mounts for your bikes? If there's enough headroom in your garage, you might be able to keep the bikes up and still park your car underneath, but this depends on how tall your cars are. If it’s too cramped, then that’s not a great option for you.
I would steer clear of the metal shed unless you can bolt it down securely. If it ends up in a windstorm, it won’t just fail; it could also damage anything nearby. A more stable option might be a better bet.
Honestly, for $200, it’s worth a shot. Even if it just lasts a few years, it'll help with storage and keep your garage organized for the time being.
