I've been having a strange issue with my toilet. A couple of nights ago, I woke up for my usual late-night bathroom trip and found the toilet tank completely empty. I checked the supply line and it was definitely on, thanks to my bidet installation. I figured the issue was with the old fill valve, which had been acting up for a while. So, I replaced it with a new Fluidmaster fill valve and it seemed to work perfectly at first. I even tested it several times and it flushed fine before bed. But when I woke up at 2 AM, the toilet was dry again and wouldn't flush! I can see the float on my new valve isn't moving, and jiggling it does nothing either. The bidet has good water pressure, so I'm stumped. Should I try swapping out the valve again just in case I got a defective one, or is there something else I might be missing?

It sounds like you might have received a defective valve, but there are a couple of things to check first. If the tank was empty and the flush flap was down, then water should be flowing in. Sometimes, obstructions like pebbles in the water line can stop everything. Have you tried checking for any blockages? Also, if you're up for it, consider trying a Toto Fill Valve instead. It has a removable cartridge that can make repairs super easy, unlike the whole valve replacement you did. Just something worth thinking about!
